Defining space with fences, hedges, walls, paths, and other boundaries, we build "outside rooms" that work in harmony with the inside rooms. Trees provide canopy, and shrub and perennial borders create finish and detail.
A garden is not so much a fixed thing as a poetic use of space: a place where space and light join to create a living atmosphere. Whether involving areas on a vast scale, or more tightly defined enclosures, space is designed in perfect relation to the façade of the estate.
