"I love fences and walls, and I think every garden, or smaller section of a large garden, should have them."

–Ann Brooke

Sturdy, dry stone walls and rough-rendered, meandering rock borders create atmosphere. Stone terraces are the classic definition of space, a space to sit and quietly read a book, or a setting for a sunny Sunday brunch with friends.
Imagine reclining in an outdoor room defined by bluestone walls, or enjoying a mountain range suggested by boulders carefully placed upon the existing landscape. Outside space becomes clear as you step through an opening in one wall, only to discover a romantic beech forest, or a patch of bluebells.

"In my back garden I have a courtyard enclosed by an immensely high dry-stone wall on one side and the L-shape of the house on two others; it is utterly private, sheltered. I don't entirely screen the soothing grey of the south-facing wall..."

–Mirabel Osler
